Effective October 1, 2019, the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) is the Prospective Payment System (PPS) used in skilled nursing for classifying patients in a Part A stay. The Patient-Driven Groupings Model (PDGM) became effective on January 1, 2020, which is a new case-mix classification model for home health.
